Being a user myself, I find the app interface to be complex and not intuitive.
As such, a case study was done with the goal to help the user experience of
the app to be more intuitive and seamless by:

- Identifying problems that the users are facing through user research.
- Creating a solution that meets user needs through app redesign.

User Survey

A survey was conducted on users aged
between 25-35 years old in Singapore.

The goals of the survey are to find out:

- User’s decision-making,when purchasing Crypto
- How and where do users transfer their funds from.
- Does the user have any prior knowledge of investing?
- Does the user understand the fundamentals behind
 the crypto they are purchasing.

Key Findings
from user survey

Users decision-making when,
when purchasing Crypto

Where did the users get their information
about the crypto, they are purchasing.
Most of the users generally look at the top few cryptos,
followed by what is trending on the social media.

prior knowledge of investing?

On a rate of 1-5, how knowledgeable
are you in investing/trading? 1- being low.
Looking at the data gathered, many
of the user have no or little knowledge in investing and trading.

Is the user familiar with the fundamental
principles underlying the cryptocurrency they intend to buy?

How familiar are users with the cryptocurrency they are purchasing, including knowledge of the founder, roadmap, and overall vision of the project?
The user shows little understanding of the crypto they are buying.

User Interview

From the survey, we conducted interviews with a few that took part in the survey.
The objectives of this interview are to find out what are the pull and push factors in using the app.

Here are some Questions that were asked:
- Do you find it difficult when depositing/withdrawing funds?

- What is the amount that you deposit? Are you a long/short term holder?

- How often do you check your portfolio?

- If you can choose one thing to improve on the app what will it be?

Key insights

- Most users using the app are new to investing and trading

- Many of the users are long-term holder as they do not have much knowledge on trading.

- Most uses bank-transfer to deposit their funds.

- Many of the users share the same pain points of the interface not being intuitive.

- Users find confusing when it comes to depositing their funds.
To further understand the user’s feeling and pain point. A user journey is created to further understand how the user navigate the app when depositing their funds.

Defining the
Problem Statement

From the above pain points and research findings,
I have come out with one problem statement.

" How might we enhance the ease of fund transfer and streamline the interface for customers to help the user’s experience more intuitive and comprehensive in Crypto.com app, and that may help increase and sustain users. "

Information Architecture

User Flow

I have created a simple user flow diagram of users depositing their funds through bank transfer, as insights from the survey and interview shows that most users uses bank transfer to deposit their funds.

Ideate

Following the findings and pain points,
I begun brainstorming for the app design with some sketches.

High-Fi

User Wallet

A easier way for users to track and focus on their portfolio.

Users can also now create multiple account for different purpose.
Trading graph can now be switch between
Pro & Lite easily to suit different users need.

Depositing of funds
are much easier and faster.

Traceability of fund and orders.

Usability Testing

Users were asked to perform several tasks
and provide feedback and satisfaction based on the task given.

Task 1:
Depositing of funds

Task 2:
Depositing of funds

What's Next?

Community & Education

A community forum where user
can share insights of market analysis
or news.

Education to help users understand
about different Crypto and trading.

Inclusivity

For people that have vision impairment
such as colour-blind should not be
left out from investing opportunity.

Understand their pain point and work
on how design can be used to
optimize their experience.

Earn/Reward

To attract more user to use our app.
Looking at how to optimize earn
feature where user stake their
crypto for passive income.

Reward user for signing in the
app daily.User can earn rewards
such as points or crypto which
can accumulate to earn crypto.
This will help increase users
engagement

Summary
Thank You!!

As my first UX/UI case study during my attendance at a UX/UI bootcamp in 2022, I fell in love with the design process of UX/UI, which involves conducting research, ideating solutions, and understanding pain points and business goals to make the product successful.
